Location:
This wonderful vacation home is located in Ennice, a small peaceful town in the northwest Blue Ridge Mountains between the New River and the Blue Ridge Parkway.  It's part of Alleghany County, which is known as the "Lost Province" due to its pristine, undeveloped outdoors.  The surrounding areas offer an abundance of outdoor recreational activities, entertainment, and shopping opportunities:  Sparta (7.7 mi), Stone Mountain State Park (11.8 mi), New River State Park (18.5 mi), Mount Airy (21.9 mi), Boone (58.5 mi), Blowing Rock (64.6 mi).  An easy 2 1/2 hour drive from both Charlotte and Raleigh.

Activities:
Trout fishing, canoeing, river tubing, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, motorcycle touring, bird watching, photography, sightseeing, and golf.  One of the most breath-taking sections of the Blue Ridge Parkway is only eight miles distant.  Crouse Park (in Sparta) features a basketball and volley ball court, horseshoes, walking course, and exercise and play equipment for all ages from toddlers through adults.  One of the nation's oldest old-time mountain music jams occurs at the Crouse House in the middle of the park every Monday evening.  Musicians of all abilities are always welcome to join in the jam.  The Alleghany Wellness Center (also in Sparta) features a Junior Olympic pool, a therapy pool, and a state of the art fitness center and walking track.  This facility is open to the public at a modest rate of $6/day.

Suitability:
Strictly no smoking.  Children are welcome.  No pets please.  4-wheel drive during winter months is  suggested.  This home is wheelchair accessible.
